People always say "Be yourself, don't care about what others say.". It appears it is really hard to implement this in reality. Encountered something annoying yesterday. It was not a big deal in any sense. I wanted to say "I don't give a damn", but I did become upset. I don't know if this comes from my education or background from China. We were (sorry, maybe only me) always trying to please others, parents, teachers etc. It is like a natural outcome that sometimes I care about how others think of me too much. God, I wish I could reach the status of "I don't care".

A weird thing happened today. When I was watching the match between Argentina and Mexico, there was a moment I almost fell asleep. And it was not because the match was boring. I usually get excited when watching games like this. What happened to me? Then I figured it was because I watched the game by myself. I used to watch soccer games with friends with beers in hands. Watching a game itself is just not fun enough.

 

Soccer actually plays an important role in my social life. I met many good friends by playing soccer together. It is kinda like the experience of 'fighting together', you know, like soldiers serving together. Playing soccer well even once was a thing I bragged about in front of girls. I was in a team of friends in Beijing before I came to Canada. We played every week and usually drank after the game. Don't know if they still play. My guess would be no. Good food in Beijing might contributes to this result.

 

Got back from Banff yesterday. It was such a great trip. The mountains and lakes were unbelievablly beautiful. I also saw deers, goats, and even bears on Highway 1. It is definately worth the time and money. More pictures are available in the album.
