Defended my thesis proposal today. So there are only two things left: get a job and finish the thesis.  

Don't feel like doing anything even though my proposal defense is scheduled on Monday. I have a t-shirt that says "I am not unmotivated... I am just lazy". Well, I think I might actually be the opposite.

 

I went to Keystone, Colorado last weekend for a conference. Did not know it was that high. The first night I got a little altitude illness. Nothing serious, just a little headache. The place is beautiful. I went to the Rocky Mountain National Park and realized it was different from the Canadian Rockies in terms of more rocks and different plants. Driving was quite fun with all the down hills and sharp turns.

 

I had my first conference interview there. It went OK except that I don't have the teaching experience they want. It could be, actually is likely to be, a deal breaker. Anyways, it is going to be a tough job market for me.
